Hello, family and friends!
Oh, where has the time gone?! It seems like yesterday that I was anticipating the start of my student year at Miracle Mountain Ranch in the School of Discipleship. Now, I’m writing this letter two years later, at the end of my second student year in the School of Discipleship. As I transition into a new season of life, I wholeheartedly thank the Lord for the marvelous ways He has continually provided for me.
I wanted to provide an update on my next steps in life. I’ve spent the last two years as a student at Miracle Mountain Ranch. I have completed two years of Bible classes and hands-on training through their School of Discipleship. I’ve been blessed greatly by the ministry at MMR, and it’s really given me insight into what communing with Christ looks like. The last few months have been a whirlwind of excitement! In April, I was a part of the team that went on a mission trip to Mexico with the ranch. I also completed all of my classes in the SOD, with my favorite classes from this year being Systematic Theology and Apologetics. After Mexico, I made a trip home, spending time with family and friends. This summer, I was on the programming staff team, which is a job that involves working directly with the counselors and ranchers who were at the ranch this summer. As you are reading this letter, we have wrapped up summer camp, showing kids and summer staff the love of Christ! The theme this year was “Draw Near,” and we studied Hebrews 10:19-23 and focused on approaching God’s throne of grace.
As I’ve been spending time at the ranch, I have enjoyed working alongside resident staff and being under their mentorship. The influence each of them has had on my life is remarkable! A position has opened for me to temporarily remain on resident staff, working in the front office as the receptionist. After a lot of prayer, I have committed to remaining at MMR for the remainder of 2025. My job will involve answering the phone, managing the email, registering guests for retreats and summer camp, and processing payments. I’ve been training to step into this position since March. Office work has always piqued my interest, and it’s been enjoyable to learn the ins and outs of the office at MMR.
MMRM is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, supported through volunteers and gifts from churches, and friends like you! All staff members at Miracle Mountain Ranch live on mission support and are not paid a typical salary. I’m seeking people who would be willing to come alongside me in my work at MMR through prayer and/or financial support during my time here. If you feel led to support me in any amount, whether monthly or a one-time gift, please visit the Ranch’s website for more information or contact me personally! Any financial support I receive throughout my time at MMR goes directly to me. My housing and food are provided. Your consideration of coming alongside me as I serve God’s Kingdom means a lot to me! Please reach out if you have any encouragement, feedback, or questions regarding the work I’m doing and how you can get involved.
Miracle Mountain Ranch is a non-denominational, Christian camping and retreat center, home of 700 acres and comprised of a herd of about 80 horses. We host an extensive summer camp program that involves eight busy weeks of camp, hosting over 1,200 kids each summer. When it’s not summer camp season, MMR has a variety of retreats that they facilitate, such as the Hunter’s Retreat, Quilter’s Retreat, Men’s Retreat, Ladies Retreat, Family Camp, Youth Winter Blast, and so much more! The students in the School of Discipleship play an influential role in welcoming guests and ranchers, leading activities, and sharing the love of Christ with those who attend.
Here at MMR, there are approximately 15 married couples and a handful of single individuals who have chosen to be a part of this ministry. Because of their diligent and faithful service to Christ, and their experience, all areas of the ministry can thrive. Resident staff work in and oversee the various departments such as the barn, programming, the shop, the kitchen, marketing, and the School of Discipleship. Several of our staff have pursued outside training and higher education to better equip themselves to serve in their respective department. During the off-season of summer camp, in addition to running retreats and discipling students, staff spend their time working on projects to make the next summer camp season more successful. Thank you for your consideration!
In Christ,
Evelyn Troutman
