A Letter from Lydia
My Dear Friends and Family,
I am excited to share with you that I will be joining the Miracle Mountain Ranch Staff team in August. For those who do not know where or what Miracle Mountain Ranch Mission (MMR) is, allow me to explain. Started in 1964, MMR is a non-profit ministry located in Spring Creek, PA. Originally beginning as a Christian Youth Ranch, the Ministry has since expanded into a Summer Camp, School of Discipleship, and Retreat center. Their goal is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with all who come. For more information about the ranch, you can go to www.mmrm.org.
I hold a lot of history with Miracle Mountain Ranch being raised there alongside my other four siblings. From the time I was legally allowed to work, I loved spending my summers as a camp counselor. I started as a CIT (Counselor in Training) in 2015, and eventually worked up through the summers, ending my last summer as programming staff in 2021. When I attended Bob Jones University from 2018-2020, I initially pursued Graphic Design. My sophomore year, I discovered that my passion lay more in ministry work and Biblical counseling, so I attended mainly Bible classes and a Biblical counseling class while staying in Graphic Design to scratch that artist itch. I had the intention of switching majors when Covid hit, and the Lord saw fit to redirect my plans. I then left college for the workforce. Three years later, my parents encouraged me to pursue ministry again by attending an internship in Lafayette, IN. under Faith Ministries. In the Summer of 2023, I began my ACBC process (Association of Certified Biblical Counselors). I’m currently in Phase 2 of 3. It is still a goal of mine to see this certification through, even if it’s taken longer than I had intended. My time under Faith Ministries ended in April of 2025, but I remained local because I fell in love with the community and my church family. So, when the opportunity arose, my heart leapt for joy. I will be honest, growing up in ministry, it is all I have known. I have sought out different career paths but continually come back to one form of ministry or another.
What will my job at MMR entail? Glad you asked. I will be serving within the programming team, and my responsibilities will be mainly in paperwork. Assisting resident staff, students and summer staff through background checks and the application process. I will also help with supervising and mentoring summer staff, assisting in coordinating and hosting retreats during the other seasons, and co-advising students in the School of Discipleship.
Miracle Mountain Ranch has been a place near and dear to my heart. The Lord had taught me much during my time at the ranch and deepened my knowledge and relationship with Him while apart from the ranch. I am excited to bring what I have learned back to MMR and to learn more from there. It’s a bittersweet season, leaving IN. and returning to PA. In the few years I have been in the Midwest I have made it my home. I have a wonderful family out here and a strong church community. Making this decision was certainly not easy. The Lord pushed me in ways that were uncomfortable and trying. A friend once told me I don’t have the power to change the direction God has put me in, I just need to trust in Him and walk in Obedience. Praise God for good counsel in my life. No matter where the Lord sets me, He will use me to His glory even if it’s not how I pictured it. Recently, it has been a season of awe and surrender to Him. A time of being stripped down to the basic truths I was taught when I was little and clinging to His Word.
My friends, I am truly excited about this move and I hope you are too. This transition may be hard, painful and certainly challenging, but it will be good, because He is good. Will you pray that Christ will use me in a way that will honor Him? That He will continue to do a good work through me and in me? That I would constantly surrender my burdens, my ideals, my hopes at the foot of the Cross so that His light may shine through me?
Prayer Requests
- That I am able to close out stuff in Indiana well before moving back to PA
- That I am able to find a local church to connect into back in PA
- That I would be able to raise a monthly support base to serve at MMR (All permanent staff live on a mission support income)
- For the incoming School of Discipleship Students that will be joining MMR in September
I would humbly ask that you would consider coming alongside me in prayer and support. If you would like to support me financially, you can go to the Ranch Website and give by following the button below. Please make a note designating your tax-deductible gift towards my support. Thank you so much for your consideration.
With love,
Lydia C.
